BioScarlet Haze unleashes a truly fearless brand of hard rock on her Dirtbag/ILG/Warner debut. “Playing it safe is not something I back,” states Scarlet Haze lead singer Kat Perkins, “rock music is supposed to be dangerous.” Indeed, the band’s debut single “Reach Down,” which blends a hard edge melodic hook with sexy self pleasuring, is sonic proof of Scarlet Haze’s assault on safe music. “Reach Down,” says Kat, “is reactive and universal in subject matter because of its truth – everyone does it and that includes females.” The debut single features Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Nine Inch Nails drummer Ilan Rubin and Grammy-nominated producer Joe Marlett (Foo Fighters, Korn).
Coming from local fame in her home state of North Dakota, Kat ventured into the New York and Nashville music scenes where she honed and wood-shed her writing and live performances. Kat returned to the Midwest and began recording with guitarist Luke Fredrickson of LD Productions resulting in the debut EP “Out of the Dark.” Kat’s first self-produced album, also entitled “Out of the Dark,” won “Best Hard Rock Album” at the Minnesota Music Awards as well as garnering a nomination for “Best Artist/Group of the Year.” At radio, Scarlet Haze won the “Battle of the Bands” competition receiving 15,000 votes and opened the sold-out Bon Jovi concert at the Target Center Arena. Immediately following, Scarlet Haze released “The Bootleg” EP which received rotation on 175+ college radio stations and cuts from the album received airplay on assorted reality shows on the E! Channel, TLC, MTV, and VH1.
The band is comprised of musicians Kat Perkins (vocals), Eric Warner (guitar), Ken Valdez (guitar), Steve McClurg (bass) and Duff Eisenchenck (drums). The band tours extensively and has shared the stage with many national touring artists including Candlebox, Saving Abel, Vince Neil, Blackstone Cherry, Rev Theory, and Bret Michaels of Poison. Kat’s sultry onstage persona is equally as dangerous as her music. Her attention to stage detail, musicianship, vocal ability and undeniable sexuality, both in attire and music, leave her fans both teased and pleased simultaneously. “Rock, like Scarlet Haze, is a full package,” says Kat, “it’s not just for the ears but the eyes as well – people just want to get off at a live show – and we aim to please!”
After signing with Dirtbag/ILG/Warner in 2010, Scarlet Haze immediately entered the recording studio in San Diego, California to begin work on her new album. The record’s first single “Reach Down” impacts radio in January and will be available on Scarlet Haze’s debut album entitled “One Bad Bitch” in the Spring of 2011.
