With their debut album ?Mission: Polarlights“ (2011) THE SATELLITE YEAR attain a new level between Pop, Electro and Melodic Post Punk. Signing record deals with the German Midsummer Records, Engineer Records (UK/US) and the japanese Radtone Music Group in early spring 2011 THE SATELLITE YEAR have gained increased attention in europe and overseas. Driven by positive feedback in the media, in the further course of 2011 THE SATELLITE YEAR played a couple of shows and festivals in Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, France and finally a UK Tour in 2012 – sharing the stage with bands such as Pendulum, NOFX, The Subways, Silbermond, Bullet for my Valentine, The Get Up Kids and many more.

In corporation with the award winning director Thorsten Hary, the band shot two music videos. “Jelly Jelly, How To Survive Such A Trip?” in summer 2011 and "A Campus: A Heart: A Star" in 2013. Both videos have been featured by tape.tv, putpat.tv, KERRANG! TV and GoTV. The band signed endorsement deals with the Swedish Hagstrom Guitars, VOX Amplification, KORG and AGNER Swiss Drumsticks.

TSY has changed its line-up at the end of 2012 and is now focusing on the songwriting for their second full length record. Their new single "Universe" is coming May, 3rd 2013.
