Some people are born into this world knowing what they want to do. For this gifted few, it takes but one instance to recognize that their passion sets the backdrop to their lives.
Daniel Daley knew from the age of six that he wanted to sing. After seeing the video for Quincy Jones featuring Tevin Campbell's "Tomorrow (A Better You, Better Me)" in his grandmother's basement, the dream began. He wanted to be the youngest selling platinum artist at only 11 years old. He realized he would need to work, hard. And he did. Enrolled in music lessons since the age of eight, his skill on the piano worked wonders for him when it came to writing music. By the age of 14, Daniel had written his first song with the piano accompaniment, along with his first mini business plan. He had dreams. He had goals. He was driven.
In 2002 after being transferred to a new high school, he met his now producer Paul Jefferies (Nineteen85). Together they had a sound that was reminiscent of R&B in the 80's and 90's with a young new twist. They've since progressed that sound into a style all their own. Daniel mockingly calls it "futuristicstreetpop". Their sound has the intricacies of a Michael Jackson, the classic appeal of a Stevie Wonder with the attitude of a Jay Z.
By 2008, Daniel had performed on some of Toronto's biggest stages including the Molson Amphitheatre and Toronto Centre for the Arts, alongside international superstars Ne-Yo and Sean Paul. With his natural singing ability and genuine love for his craft, he has been able to bridge the gap between the coveted "hit" and the rare, yet respected "classic".
Daniel's upcoming projects include collaborations with some of your favourite local and international artists. His official international release of "Girlfriend" has paved the way for an anticipated full length mix tape/EP with all original material. But the City of Toronto has bred a rising star in Daniel Daley. He is bent on creating some of the most inspired music to come out of his generation. His fans and the world alike will not be disappointed.
