THIS BROKEN MACHINE born from chaos in 2005 and start composing an intricate and dark kind of alternative metal.

This Broken Machine is a band relied upon the idiosyncrasies of a group of young guys from italy, their precarious balance between interests, tastes and priorities is the incentive for an ongoing evolution. The band members finally get a personal sound that treasures the keys of primordial grunge but also keeps up with alternative metal evolutions: energetic and syncopated rhythms, thick and dissonant guitars, screaming and melodic vocals, dark and oppressing tones melt in articulated songs, drowned in a coherent and meaningful concept. The resulting sound has as main influences band like Isis, Mastodon, Tool and Deftones: extremely low bass, powerful and sharp guitars, complex drums. The band gathers around a group of friends and since the beginning the attention has been given first to the human side of the music. From this first cornerstone, the band’s poetics was traced: telling meaningful stories, living the music as the most important thing, yelling out to the ghosts and expressing needs we all have. The first work, Songs About Chaos, exemplifies these themes through seven songs, dark and tormentated but full of energy and hope.

I This Broken Machine nascono dal caos nel 2005

This Broken Machine e’ una band fondata sulle idiosincrasie di un gruppo di giovani di Milano, in cui il precario equilibrio fra interessi, gusti e priorità fornisce la spinta per una continua evoluzione.
Nel corso degli anni i membri della band hanno avuto modo di raffinare uno stile del tutto proprio, che fa tesoro delle istanze grunge degli esordi ma sta al passo con le evoluzioni del metal alternativo: ritmi sincopati ed energici, chitarre dissonanti e compatte, voci sia urlate sia melodiche, toni cupi ed opprimenti si fondono in pezzi molto articolati ed inseriti all’interno di un concept coerente ed omogeneo. Ne emergono quindi sonorità che hanno come riferimento band come Isis e Mastodon, ma anche i primi Tool e Deftones: dunque basso super ribassato, chitarre potenti e taglienti, batteria energica ma decisamente ricca e complessa.
La band si forma alcuni anni fa attorno ad un nucleo di amici ed ancora dagli esordi da’ al lato umano della musica un’importanza cardinale. Questo primo caposaldo è ciò che delinea la poetica del gruppo: parlare di cose significative, vivere la musica come se fosse la cosa piu’ importante, dare sfogo ai fantasmi ed ai bisogni espressivi che ci attanagliano tutti quanti.
La loro prima opera, Songs About Chaos incarna queste tematiche, elaborandole in un concept che attraversa 7 canzoni tormentate, cupe, ma piene di energia e speranza.
