Hi, my name is Lacey Caroline.
I’ve been told many times over that I have an old soul. I eat spaghetti and meatballs like a 4 year old, which is why I never eat spaghetti and meatballs. If you give me a pencil or pen, I’ll doodle on anything. No. Really. ANYTHING. When I yawn, my voice squeaks, so I try really hard to not yawn in front of people, as I always get quite red in the face right afterwards. It doesn’t work to my benefit that yawns are contagious. I hope I didn’t just make you yawn by reading that. That either means that I’m boring you or that you thought about yawning and it caused you to yawn. I just yawned… and squeaked. Anyway, I love running and sleeping in socks. People say that sleeping in socks is kind of an odd thing to do, but what do they know? I’m always cold… like.. really cold… and my feet are always the coldest, so I need socks or else I can’t sleep. Cold feet are the worst. If I could have anything else cold other than my feet, I would. But I always seem to get cold feet. I’m ALWAYS humming, and if there’s a song or music playing within ear’s reach, I’ll listen to the lyrics and the melodies before I listen to the conversation taking place in front of me. Some people think that’s rude, so I apologize if you’re offended, but I’ve realized it’s something I can’t really fight.
I was born and raised in a small town in northern New Jersey, where I spent every day outside, either fishing, camping, catchin’ bugs or chasing the wild animals in the woods. I would draw my feelings on the sidewalk in chalk and paint with my fingertips. As the sun relaxed in the sky, I’d run away to the lines of my favorite books about love, adventures, and fantasies I wish I was living. When I was 14, I got my first guitar, wrote my first few songs 6 months after that, and haven’t looked back since. I see color in black and white and hear music in silence. Everything means something and I live my life believing that there’s always a greater meaning than what is right in front of your eyes. The adventure to life is looking deeper and discovering the secrets of the world, finding and understanding the potential we have in all of us to be better and make a difference. In every song I write, there’s more than just the lyric; it’s a message, a symbol, the passage from one state of being to another. I believe life is really about reading underneath, above, AND between the lines.
