We are travel enthusiasts, bonfire experimentalists, hot dog haters, binge talkers and, every once in awhile, band mates. We are Nelson At The Helm. The band members in alphabetical order are: Jared Nelson and Rachelle Nelson. Pretty much the story goes like this, kids: we fell in love and then started a musical project. Rachelle voted for us to do folk music. Jared wanted pop. The outcome was decided on a rock, paper, scissors duel. What we didn't predict was that both of us are as skilled in this game as we are stubborn about our musical preferences. To be honest, the victor hasn't yet been decided. The match actually continues to this day. But, since we'd like people to hear our music before 2024, our styles have been blended into folky pop (or pop folk) until the true victor emerges.
