The sinister whispers of "Breathe the Fire" echo a long line of lush, dark pop bands that sprouted out of the tail end of 80's post-punk and shoegaze. The Soft Moon pick up the very best elements of those movements and craft a sound that's not unlike anything we've heard before but rather a welcome scent that brings memories flooding back like old friends. -Raven Sings The Blues "When It's Over" floats along electric currents, starting up like the Interpol we used to all know and love, as ghostly voices punctuate smoke-machine synths and an uncertain guitar stutter. Then just after the three minute mark when you think you've got it sussed, a piercing sonic boom crashes in that sounds like it should soundtrack the final moments of Danny Boyle's movie 'Sunshine', when the burning light of the dying sun consumes the sole survivor in glorious technicolour. The effect of this invasion of sound is all at once invigorating, unsettling and strikingly beautiful...try it with headphones. -Tally Ho! Listening to "Phantoms" is like swimming in an abyss accompanied by perverted robotic whales from outer-space, peer pressuring you to take hallucenogenics.
