ERIK: New York City is beautiful. It's dirty, and frustrating and aggressive and selfish. It can also be the absolute opposite, when your heart is open. Like all places I suppose, in different degrees of perspective. So many of us are lost and on the never ending search for "something" be it individuality, personal peace, success, a better understanding of the world around us, and all while creating a world of our own. This is where I met Sam, creating my own world and starting to find myself and sit comfortably in it.


SAM: The potent, driving energy of New York City pulled me in. Leaving behind a corporate job, friends, family and a comfortable lifestyle in my beautiful homeland of New Zealand I found myself playing the underbelly of the Big Apple, finding my voice and searching for validation from the fast moving commuters. I had seen how music had the potential to shift and convert energy, to open people's hearts and this personal discovery was addictive and exciting. I wanted to learn more. I found Erik down there doing the same thing. The minute we wove our voices together and filled the Metropolitan Station with harmony there was no going back for me.


SEAN: A reliable source once told me that New York City is the center of the universe, and so I came to investigate. I feel as if I'm prodding the heart of this city every time I play, to see if it's breathing -- and usually, it is. Other times, it's our job to help it inhale or exhale -- or hiccup, laugh, burp -- according to the season. As Albert Ayler said (on an album cover), "Music Is The Healing Force Of The Universe."

It was in a dark, smoke-filled basement in Brooklyn that Erik, Sam, and I met through our songs. Whatever it is that we wanted to give people through music, we heard instantly and recognized in one another's voices, and since our first group hug we've been focusing all of our energies into the songs that we want to sing to real people -- to look one another in the eye, and to exchange glances into one another's hearts.
