DJ HONES [Ah-Nes] BIOGRAPHY

Hailing from the land of the northern seas, DJ Hones is a distinctive personality in the international DJ scene. He is known as much for astonishing crowds with his track twists as for packing the dance floor. From B-Boys seeking hip-hop to House-loving fashionistas, DJ Hones is known for playing to diverse audiences across the globe.

A descendant of Denmark’s first Viking king, Harald Blue Tooth, this native of Copenhagen began conquering the music scene at the tender age sixteen. His DJ skills led to a position at Copenhagen’s Power 101.2 FM as Music Director and Drive Time Personality. It was there he created Denmark’s first pre-eminent Hip Hop radio show, Pickuppen (Needles) which exposed the then underground art form to the mainstream masses. A deal with Sony Music Denmark under the rap moniker Slim $ soon followed. Mid-way through recording his first album, Hones realized that changed was needed. He soon ditched his alter ego Slim $ and set his sights on New York City, the birthplace of Hip Hop.

Arriving in the late nineties, he immediately began playing at a slew of New York’s hottest haunts – Pangea, Soho Grand, and NV to name a few. Hones has supplied the soundtracks to parties for Elite Model Management, Dick Wolf Productions, US Tennis Association, Patti LaBelle, Alicia Keys, Snoop Dogg and a host of others.

After a decade in the States, Hones returned to his roots, calling Denmark home once again. Since his return, his reign of the dance floors across Europe continues.
He has warmed up crowds across Europe for music superstars, N.E.R.D., Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, The Outlawz, The Game, Yung Joc, Fat Joe and Bobby Valentino.

Hones has been featured in the New York Times and Travel Savvy Magazine in addition to appearing on ARD (German Radio), and Fujisankee TV (Japan). He recently formed the Nu Amsterdam Project with former Cypress Hill/ Call o Da wild Member B-Ricks
