The group's new wave influences and homages became popular in certain important circles. The group, named for its metered approach to musical structures, signed a publishing deal prior to releasing their debut album in September 2001 on Restless Records. Two years later, the group inked a deal with Everloving, formerly Enjoy Records, and issued Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?
