Innocent Media's music career spans a period of 15 years. Innocent is based in Johannesburg, his musical roots are gospel and his genre' covers Soul, Jazz and 'Tempo songs'. His music and style is influenced by the likes of Michael Jackson and Luther Vandross. Innocent Modiba started as a singer in Church, singing gospel.

He trained as a mechanical and electrical engineer, a course which he did not complete as he decided to pursue his musical career, full time. In 1994 he decided to continue is musical career as a full time vocalist, working with Benjamin Dube, mostly singing as a backing vocalist. In 1998 he joined the gospel group 'Family Factory', and later 'Joyous Celebration'.

In 1997 he toured with Ingemar Olson in Sweden, performed at the Luther Vandross SA. Tour, Michael Jackson History World tour, Manhattans and Toto World tour. In 1999, he received a SAMA in the category best gospel group or duo, whilst with 'Family Factory'. From 1999 to 2006, Innocent Modiba toured the world and performed at major international festivals and at prominent venues:

The Olympia – France, Paris, for Miriam Makeba launch of her Grammy nominated 'Homeland'; Malmo festival in Malmo; Jazz jamboree – Australia; 7th Natalie in Vatico, Rome, Italy; Womad – USA; 27th Pori Jazz – Finland; Montreal Jazz Festival – Canada; Hollywood Bowl – Los Angeles, USA; Arezzo Wave Love Festival, Italy; African Union 6th Summit – Khartoum and Stockholm Jazz Festival – Sweden.

Innocent Modiba performed at prominent events in South Africa such as Mandela 80 Gift of The Nation concert – 1998; The Robben Island Millennium Celebrations - 1999 to 2000; Kora awards, Sun City – 2000; Miss Teen SA – 2001; 3rd extra ordinary session of the executive council of The African Union – 2003; Nelson Mandela's 85th birthday – 2003; 23rd F.A.O regional conference for Africa – 2004; Cape Town Jazz Festival – 2006; African Diaspora Dialogue opening ceremony 2007.

He has also performed at prominent corporate functions like the IBM Awards ceremony – 2003. Innocent Modiba appeared on various television talk shows, reality TV competitions and made appearances in a favourite South African soap opera. He appeared on The Felicia Mabuza Suttle show in 2003; vocalist on Strictly Come Dancing since 2006 and acted in the South African television program, Soul City on SABC 1 (with the late Lebo Mathosa) since March 2006.

Innocent has worked with prominent South African artists the likes of; Jennifer Jones, Ray Phiri (Stimela),Letta Mbulu, Nana Coyote, Miriam Makeba to name but a few. He sang for and met distinguished people like; Nelson Mandela, Thabo Mbeki, the King of Sweden, president Jacques Chirac and Fidel Castro to name a few. He also impressed Quincy Jones, the producer at an event in the USA while singing as a lead vocalist with Caiphus Semenya.

The Motown legend singled Innocent out as one of Africa's most impressive male vocalists. Innocent has sung on local and international film scores and soundtracks for; Tsotsi, Drum and Ghost and the Darkness (starring Michael Douglas). Innocent Modiba is proudly South African and a highly versatile and professional artist.

In 2009 he worked on his debut with musician/producer, Akhomi of Thebula Music. The album is a mixture of dance and African pop. Song like ‘Xiluva', ‘Mntwan'omuntu' and ‘Never let go' are songs to look forward to in this well balanced album. In this album Innocent also lent a helping hand in production (Mntwan'omuntu). This is everybody's album.
