While singing at a local church back in late 2006 Liya caught the attention of Canadian rapper Promise. Like anybody who hears her sing he was quickly taken away by her vocal display of sincerity. Although music was a big part of her life growing up and she had even been part of an award winning choir, Liya had never done music on a professional or solo level before. It took a little convincing to get her in the studio but after taking the plunge she didn’t look back and she has continued to move forward with her career ever since.
