SIN was co-founded in 1989 by Mona Moore, Andy Orel and Richard Dorfmeister in Vienna, when they realized that they hung out together every second night and didn’t kow that each of them had quite some musical past. Mainly concentrating on recording in their tiny living-room-studio - with occasional live-sets - they released their first 12“ in 1990 ?Where Shall I Turn?“. Sort of the first austrian home-production getting airplay and media attention it became kinda cult record also in Italy. In 1993 Dorfmeister left Vienna to get thing going in the dj-world whereas Moore and Orel were quite comfortable with their comparably oldschool band/songwriting approch.So Mona Moore and Andy Orel continued Sin as a duo. Being one of the lucky few to get a long term deal with Abuse Industries they could release whatever they wanted whenever they wanted to. So in the mid- to late nineties they put out several CDs and vinyls under their name featuring also stuff like the first remix work by Kruder & Dorfmeister, Pulsinger Tunakan and Abe Duque amongst others. A lot of touring followed. taking them from Vienna to Badgastein, Munich, Cologne, Stuttgart, Wiesen etc.
　　Their 9 track debut album "Insinuation“ recorded entirely in their tiny living-room-studio was released may 98. With it?s weird mixture of moody,very, very slow vocal trip hop sorta stuff - reaching from dreamy dopey tracks to the world of trash-porn-movies moving on to more depressing suicidal corners ending in some sleazy b-grade latino ballroom - it was collecting great reviews in austrian, german, swiss, english, french, belgian, american magazines. Almost every track (!) of the album got airplay on alternative radiostations. This success made them do more live PAs having its highpoint so far opening for Nick Cave on his 2001 euro-tour at the Wiener Stadthalle.
　　In september 2001 their last album "Kissing“ was released. Almost each track was played on the radio. Especially the song "And I Sigh" got massive airplay. The remix by Vienna Scientists featured on the 12 inch released at the same time as the album was doing really great. Some of the tracks were licensed to different compilations around europe
　　The time since "Kissing" was basically filled with wondering, discussing and being depressed by the state the world is in, and hours and days, years andc centuries in their livingroom-studio making music trying to turn all that sadness and madness into songs. Who can seriously make music nowadays without being influenced by a world falling apart."So Sad"was released in february 2003. It features 5 tracks including 2 remixes (?The Game of Despise" remixed by Waldeck and ?The Raven“ remixed by Audiodope). All the songs were written by Sin except ?Der Rosmarienbaum“ that happens to be an old german folktune from the 14th century or something like that. It was just a small edition and sold out rather quickly.
　　Since than the usual mix of playing live and recording continued. Slowly they started to work on their new album "Absinth". And truely slowly the songs came one after the other.
　　One day good old Abe Duque from Hollis said yes when we asked him if he would do a remix of "So Sad". And the remix turned out great. It was released via Abuse Industries USA and is at the moment in it's third reprint..
　　And in April 2005 Sin finished their new album "Absinth", a double CD. One Cd containing 10 new Sin songs and one CD with Sin songs remixed/reworked by friends.
