For country music artist Jordan Doell, the past five years have been a remarkable, and highly rewarding, whirlwind of activity. Since the release of his first album ‘That’s Me No More’ in 2006, which garnered him a BCCMA Horizon Award nomination for Best New Artist, Jordan has been turning up the heat and honing his unique, modern country style. Consequently, Jordan has been firmly embraced by some of Nashville’s elite songwriters and collaborates with many of the top names in the country music industry.
Born into a family of gospel and country singers – his father and uncles recorded in excess of ten albums throughout their career – Jordan caught the music bug early on. At age seven he was a regular fixture singing gospel in front of his hometown church congregation. Over the years his love of music and singing grew, and as he matured, so did his innate ability and the desire to perform.
As a teenager, Jordan found himself drawn to rock and roll and he left home at sixteen to expand his horizons. By then he had learned to play the guitar, he developed a powerful vocal style, and he fronted a succession of bands that made him one of the most sought after performers on the West Coast. Ultimately Jordan found that rock and roll had its limits, and after years on the club circuit he felt there was something missing. Country music had never been far from his mind and increasingly he found himself listening to the favourite musicians of his youth – Hank Williams, George Jones, and Waylon & Willie. After listening to a Brooks and Dunn CD, and being blown away by what they were doing, that Jordan realized he needed to change direction and get back to his first love, country music. The result of this epiphany was ‘That’s Me No More’.
