Joel Waldman es un ex alumno de Berklee College of Music (2009). Procedente de Bogotá, Colombia, hijo de padres artistas: actriz y arquitecto. Aprendió a tocar el piano por sí solo a la edad de 5 y, a los 9 ya cantaba canciones publicitarias para TV y radio. No tardó en comenzar a escribir sus propias canciones y aprendió a tocar la guitarra: su instrumento favorito. A los 19, es contratado como cantante oficial de las altas fiestas de la comunidad judía de Medellín, Colombia. Se matriculó en Berklee en el 2006, tras recibir una beca y estudió el énfasis de “Contemporary Writing and Production”. En el 2007, compone la música para la obra teatral “The Trial of God”, presentada “off Broadway” en New York y otros teatros importantes en Boston. En octubre del 2009 gana la final del concurso “Berklee canta es espa?ol” transmitido por TELEVISA por mas de 60 países en el Lunario del Auditorio Nacional en México D.F. Para el show de graduación en Mayo 09, fue el encargado de escribir y dirigir las voces para el tributo a Juan Luis Guerra además de transcribir y dirigir “La Bilirrubina” con Juan Luis en el escenario. Entre sus arreglos y trabajos de escritura, ha realizado preparación de partituras y transcripción para Whitney Houston y Doc Severinsen y compartió escenario con Carlos Vives. Co-arregló y coprodujo el EP de 5 canciones: “Nada es accidental” que está ya a la venta en Itunes, Bandcamp, Amazon y muchas más tiendas digitales!

Originally from Bogotá-Colombia, graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2009. A son of artists: actress and architect. He teaches himself to play the piano at 5 years old, and at 9, he is already singing commercial music for TV and radio such as jingles and voiceovers. It wouldn’t take him long to start writing his own songs and teaches himself to play the guitar as well: his favorite instrument. At the age of 19, he gets hired by the Jewish community of Medellin, Colombia, as the official Cantor for the high holidays. In 2006 He enrolls at Berklee after receiving a scholarship and he majored in “Contemporary Writing and Production”. In 2007 he composes the music for the play “The Trial of God” presented “off Broadway” in New York and other important theaters in Boston. In October of 2009 he wins the final round of the contest “Berklee canta en espa?ol” broadcasted through TELEVISA in more than 60 countries at the Lunario del Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City. For the commencement concert in May 09, he was chosen to write and coordinate the Background vocals for the tribute to Juan Luis Guerra and transcribed and conducted “La bilirrubina” with Juan Luis on stage. Among his arrangements and writing gigs, he did Score and Parts preparation for Whitney Houston and Doc Severinsen and also performed with Colombian superstar Carlos Vives. He co-arranged and co-produced his 5-song EP: “Nada Es Accidental” which is now for sale on Itunes, Bandcamp, Amazon and other e-stores!
