Tamás Kátai is a Hungarian-born composer, musician, photographer living in Edinburgh, Scotland since 2008. He started his musical activities in the beginning of the ’90s and soon joined his first real band, a local group of friends, Gire as a keyboard player in the extreme metal band. He remained a firm member until their disintegration in 2007, performing on many stages during the 12 years.
Meanwhile he started another project, Thy Catafalque, playing avant-garde, experimental black metal. Thy Catafalque is his best-known musical activity, releasing seven albums, and being part of the well-respected record label of the underground metal scene, Season of Mist from France. These recording have been re-released many times by different labels in different formats (vinyl, CD, cassette, digital).
He also released two chamber music solo albums under his own name (Erika szobája, 2005 and Slower Structures, 2016), and another project, pop/jazz noir Neolunar, also in 2016.
