Joel Guthrie is a singer/songwriter from the Los Angeles area who grew up all over the country in Texas, Colorado, and Washington. He started playing drums at age ten and has since learned to play every instrument he can get his hands on, his favorite being the guitar. As a child, Joel was inspired by Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman and eventually developed his skills leading worship for his church in high school. He is currently playing at events and in local coffee shops in the Los Angeles area. Joel is excited to announce that he has just finished recording his debut album “Subtitles for a Love Song” in San Diego with talented producer Jesse Barrera. The record is a compilation of songs that Joel has written over the last few years while attending the LA Music Academy. “It was really cool to see these songs that I’ve played by myself, just me and my guitar, come to life in the studio,” Joel said. “I also began to really notice the impact that my musical influences have had on my writing.” Joel is influenced by artists like Keith Urban, Jason Mraz, Switchfoot, and many others, drawing inspiration from many different genres to create a sound all his own. Joel says about his album: “’Subtitles for a Love Song’ is an acoustic pop record with a little soul, a little twang, and a whole lot of love.” It will be released on iTunes January 2, 2012.
