British pop has found a new voice and its next superstar. 24-year-old Luke Bingham is a gifted singer, a prodigious songwriter, a hypnotic mover and proof positive that the best things come to those who refuse to live their lives at anything less than full throttle. You can hear it in his captivating voice: Luke’s is an impatient, obsessive sort of talent. “I watch someone on stage and I enjoy what they do, but I also think, ‘I could do that,” he says. “I don’t copy, I like to reinvent and take it to new heights.” He was like this at school, taking in everything from beatboxing to yo-yoing to skateboarding (he became East Midlands champion within a year of taking it up) and then, eventually, singing.
