Beldina Malaika is a Kenyan artist living in Sweden, yet she’s coveted by some of the American greats. At just 22, she has opened for Faith Evans and thrown down vocals for Stevie Wonder. More recently, she sang the hook on the Childish Gambino track, “Not Going Back.” Additionally, she tours with large-scale Swedish acts like Rasmus Faber and Timbuktu.

Her talent alone gets her these gigs; she’s not one for stunts and gimmicks. Beldina’s a self-proclaimed “woman of few words” who has given few interviews and offers little personal information online. This soft-spoken rising diva just happens to have a mind-blowing, scale-bending voice — and that she’s not afraid to show off.

Her comfort zones seem to be the stage and the studio, where Beldina has dropped some lilting soul singles of her own, along with our favorite pop hit, “Here We Go.” The song quickly became ubiquitous on the blogosphere for its glitchy Daft Punk-style production and warm, open-faced vocals. She’s in rare form on the video, where she thrashes around like she’s dancing in front of a mirror. Talent like this doesn’t need a club to get nuts.
