After experimenting with this art form for a popular sound system in his hometown, Prince rededicated his life to God and traded his “warring dub plates” for a bible, musical Cd’s and mixes that reflected his strong Christian upbringing.
Soon enough Prince was recruited by a local Christian radio station where he went by the name “Omega Express” and soon enough he founded one of the first Trinidad and Tobago based Christian sound systems, the Omega Express sound station.
But it wasn't until 2008 that his singing career began. After a brief hiatus from the scene he changed his name to J Prince an abbreviated version of his real name Joel Prince.
He would then make a grand comeback with a hit single “Victory” which propelled him into the spotlight becoming a regional favorite, while being voted number one on many radio station charts.
The subsequent music video release would expose the young artiste to an even wider audience and was voted number two on tempo’s cross Caribbean countdown.
In 2011 Prince collaborated with Flow Masters Records to release his first album project a mixtape called, “Omega - New Beginning” which paved the way for his debut studio album project “Renaissance” which was released later that same year.
Both projects solidified his place in the Gospel music fraternity with International Stars like Christafari’s lead singer and CEO of Gospel Reggae.com Mark Mohr describing him as, “a shining example of the bright future of gospel reggae”.
The Morne Diablo native has since shared the stage with some of music’s biggest stars including Jah Cure, Cecile, Sherwin Gardner, Dj Nicholas, Lester Lewis as well as Grammy nominated American Rapper Flame.
Recently Prince’s music career has gone to another level with smash hits like “Blood” and “Thunder Roll” which was written shortly after a near fatal car crash earning him rave reviews at home and abroad.
His latest project “Unlimited” is his 2nd official studio album has been labelled by critics as some of his best work yet.
The album, a perfect synergy of music and strong biblical messages showcases the versatile artiste in a way never seen before.
The musical master piece will have you dancing as J Prince skillfully navigates a wide range of genres as he is notorious known to.
