Vesper Heights is multi-instrumentalist, singer, and composer Ryan Repash, who began playing drums at age 9 and guitar at age 14. He plays a lot of the instruments on Memory Tree and also wrote the string and horn arrangements. He's particularly drawn to older/vintage acoustic instruments and his studio houses a family of bellows-powered organs including several pump organs, a folding organ, and a harmonium.

The son of two photographers, Ryan grew up in a small town just north of Philadelphia and spent much of his childhood exploring nearby forest-covered mountains and winding creeks with his brother.

Over the course of a few years, Vesper Heights’ first album—Memory Tree—evolved from a simple set of demos with acoustic guitar, piano, and vocals into a full orchestral album with strings, horns, layered vocals, field recordings, and a variety of unconventional sounds.
