In the beginning, there was Iowa.

Born there to hippie parents - the tried and true kind, straight out of the 60s, who lived by the peace&love motto - Allyson Ezell soaked up an intense optimism. But most importantly, she fostered a desire for freedom, eventually leading her to Paris, where she now lives, after a hiatus in New York City and a few bohemian years etched forever in her heart.

While France may be Allyson Ezell’s home away from home, it is Iowa that seeps out of her songs. She began writing them two years ago. Up until then, she wouldn’t allow herself to give into this dream, even though she’d been filling notebooks with words from an early age. Stories of princes, princesses, adventure and everything in between, but “always signed, because it gives an importance to the writing.” And not just stories but diaries as well since what felt like forever. She even delved into screenwriting “for the structure, the mathematical side.” Allyson has always loved numbers, too.
But the songs soon took over. “It was like something just clicked, an equation that I finally managed to solve. I played with the structures, the words. I love playing with words. ” The stories trotting around in her head begged to be told. Suddenly she felt the irrepressible need to get them out and into the world. And to sing them loud and proud, in her strong voice.
