The 70 Bixiga band was formed from the union of the Sao Paulo scene already known from work done in the studio Gadgety, located in the bohemian heart of downtown Sao Paulo various musicians. Coming from various musical fronts, joined members accompanying various groups and artists like Rockers Control, Project Fine Thing, Dudu Tsuda, Dexter, Pipo Pegoraro, Anelis Assumption, Emicida, Rodrigo Campos, Alzira and, among others, to explore the territory fusion of African, Latin and Brazilian instrumental music in his own compositions and versions of Brazilian artists such as Luiz Gonzaga, Pedro Santos and the Tincos.

The name Bixiga 70 is connected to the address of the studio where the group was born: the number 70 street Thirteen May. Considered by many as the birthplace of samba So Paulo, the district also hosts the Bixiga and feeds the imagination of those ten musicians seeking closer ties between the past and the future through a reading of the cosmopolitan music of countries like Ghana and Nigeria, the drums of the yards, the Malinke music, psychedelia, dub and an unpretentious and without limits for improvisation and dance attitude.

The group's first album, released in late 2011 was acclaimed by audiences and critics, appearing in the main lists of best albums of the year for various domestic vehicles.
