She had played them demos that had been recorded through a series of lucky breaks during a trip to California. The label paired her with producers Shep and Kenny (Mandy Moore, LFO, Marcy Playground) to record her first pop/rock album, which drew favorable comparisons to other pop stars like Jessica Simpson. Ammons released her first single on the American Pie 2 soundtrack before her album came out.
