With 10 independent projects under his belt, Devine Carama finally looks to bring his socially conscious message to the masses. He has been featured in several newspapers, magazines, websites, and radio shows and was chosen as a recipient of The Top 20 Under 40 Award in his hometown, an award that recognized the city's top 20 influential people under the age of 40. Has also worked with actress Jackee Harry (227, Sister, Sister, Another World) on a theme song and video for her non profit org.
Devine Carama was the first hip-hop artist to ever perform at the historical Lyric Theatre in Lexington, KY with Doug E. Fresh being the second. Devine was also the first hip hop artist to earn a prime time radio interview and have a song played on Lexington's only major urban station 107.9 The Beat. He also had a primetime interview at the local news station on MLK Day in 2010 and opened up for such artists as LL Cool J, Will I Am, Canibus, Tanya Morgan, Little Brother, Too Short, Nappy Roots, Devin the Dude, Cee Knowledge of the Digable Planets and more! He has collabed with such artists as the lengendary battle MC Canibus, monster indie hip hop group CunningLynguists, 9th Wonder artists Thee Tom Hardy, Nemo Achida, Sheisty Khrist and more!
In Kentucky, where there is only a small hip hop market, Devine has consistently landed headlining performances in venues that traditionally host everything but hip hop. His reputation was garnered by taking a portable cd player and going around his city into different neighborhoods and standing on the corner performing his songs, starting ciphers at local parties, and performing at several local universities, community events, and churches. He has a large following on social networks like Twitter, Facebook and MySpace landing over 10,000 friends/fans/followers. Most recently Devine Carama has been getting the attention of major hip hop blogs such as Kevin Nottingham and 2Dopeboyz.
