Hideaki Aomori is a NY based musician who plays, composes, arranges, and teaches in venues around the world. As a multi-instrumentalist (sax, clarinet, flute), Hideaki has recorded solo projects in both jazz and classical music. Some of his past collaborators include Sir Roland Hanna, Sufjan Stevens, St. Vincent, The National, Sean Lennon, Duncan Sheik, Rufus Wainwright, Jimmy Fallon, and the Dirty Projectors.
In 2006, Hideaki joined Sufjan Stevens for a world tour in support of his album, “The Avalanche.” As one of Stevens’ featured soloists, he played to great acclaim in such prestigious venues as London’s Barbican Centre and Sydney’s State Theater. In 2007, Hideaki joined the Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra for a special performance of Stevens’ songs. He also served as principal clarinetist for the recording and Brooklyn Academy of Music premiere of Stevens’ orchestral work, “BQE.”
