Tyson L Yen is an American singer and songwriter. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the American rock band State Line Empire.

Bio.

Yen began studying music at Treeview Elementary School in Hayward, CA and continued through high school at Moreau and college at Chabot. In High school, he was awarded the Louis Armstrong jazz award and was accepted to participate in the regions High School Grammy Jazz band (trumpet)

In college, he began gigging for local big band jazz and dance/funk bands in San Francisco. During this period, Yen started a funk band with fellow college jazz musicians. The band quickly dissolved after abandoning their rehearsal space because they could no longer pay the rent. Soon after, he sought to fulfill his other music interest, singing and rock music.

in 1998 he formed the rock band Drist, who went on to having a slot in the video games Guitar Hero I and II. After the band broke up, Yen joined former members of the band in a new project called "State Line Empire" who became the inaugural winners of Guitar Centers "Your Next Record" contest. March 8th 2011 the band plans to release their first EP featuring Slash (Guns and Roses/Velvet Revolver)
