'' Today is a great day to be an independent artist and there are not so many days like this so I'm going to enjoy this one. Thank you to Gosia Bego (Manager), Bego Booking and Gusstaff Records. After 5 years of hard work, we can finally get started'' Kev Fox
Bego Booking is very pleased to introduce Kev Fox, a man with a talent for writing songs with a depth of message not too dissimilar to that of PJ Harvey or Thom Yorke. Though the songs are often dark and haunting tales of longing based on a keen social awareness, there are gorgeous melodies and the acoustic guitar live loops, samples and beats make some of his work reminiscent of Neil Young, John Martyn, Nick Drake or Elbow. The songs are sensitive, soulful, and Fox's soaring vocals lend them a sense of beauty that is rarely seen these days.
Kev has spent the last 3 years on and off the road with his band through Europe/Uk/Ireland clocking up some serious mileage and selling over 5000 copies of his first EP 'Help yourself'. During this period, whilst on tour in Poland. Kev met Andrzej Smolik, a very well respected record producer (Winner Of The Golden Ear Award 2011 Previous Winners include Daniel Lanois,(u2) Brian Eno, Martin Hannet, Joy Division) at a show in Warsaw. Andrzej invited Kev to his studio to put a track together.
The track L.O.O.T.T was featured on the album Smolik 4 which went into the Polish charts at number 3 on November 12th, outselling Rod Stewart and Kings of Leon that week. The album hit gold status and stayed in the top 10 for 6 months. After playing numerous sold out shows after the release of Smolik 4, Kev Fox and his band took some time out to record Kev's debut album 'King For A Day'
This is no ordinary début. Kev and his producer/engineer John Lawrence (Gorky's Zycotic Minci) made the decision early on that the album should be as live as possible and that location was a huge factor. After some long conversations they chose Cefn-Y-Waun Chapel in Deinolen, which was built by local quarrymen in 1838 in the countryside of North Wales.
Kev's Début album will be officially released and in stores from April 2nd 2012 on Gusstaff Records and to follow will be a European tour which will take the band through 13 countries.

Peter Saville: (Factory Records)'Kev Fox is an extremely stylish and talented young man who deserves all the success that is most definitely coming his way''
Clash Magazine London '' Kev Fox is a raw, emotive performer who has some incredible songs. With the strength of somebody like Damien Rice, playing over loops, delay and reverb, Kev's act is immensely powerful and soulful putting references of The Verve and early U2 in mind. Haunting and brilliant, I truly can't recommend him enough
Manchester Evening News "His melancholy songs of longing repeatedly surprised me. Looping various thumps and acoustic tinkles with technology that is probably all very simple when you know how, Fox is the perfect weekend comedown tonic, twinges of Portishead in the more brooding of his beats had people sitting up in their seats and wondering just how he pulled that sound off, exactly?"
